Ithaca LSA 55 .308 feeding problem
I bought a new LSA 65 in .270 back in 1975 and it's been my number one rifle ever since. I recently bought a LSA 55 in .308 but I'm having trouble with it. First the bolt moves very hard with three rounds in the clip. Also I sometimes get a deep grove in the case just below the shoulder. But my biggest concern is the tips of the bullets get badly damaged when I feed them into the chamber. They actually get a deep cutout in the lead tip. I've tried to watch and see where they are hitting but I can't tell. Never had any problem with thousands of rounds shot out of my LSA6 65. The gun is in very nice condition. The feed ramp, clip and chamber all look good. I load my own ammo and tried seating the bullets deeper but it makes no difference. Has anyone had this problem or have any thoughts.
