I Want To Buy A Tikka T-3 Action
Posted by yukonal on February 9, 2012 at 7:09 pmLooking for a stainless action, or two. Are they available for sale?
If so, who carries them?
How much?

Sorry for hijacking this old post, but I have the same question on buying an action. Is that done?
Forgive my ignorance I'm new to tikka and the forum.
I was hoping to buy a tikka action, W3 chassis, and bartlein barrel – hand over to my smith to assemble and order whatever piece parts required…. is that not the way it's done?
Or am I supposed to just buy a base tikka scrap everything except the action?
I just don't see any tikka actions for sale… sorry I know I must sound like a total noob…

Hi over here in England gunsmiths seek out tikka actions with shot out barrels and just put them to one side waiting for someone to want a rifle with a tikka action made , you might have to do the same or find a smith that has some , I think the paper work for me to get one and ship it to you would be laughable if it could be done at all

As far as I know, you have to get a rifle as a donor and use the action from it.

Yes, you do, but at only $600 it's not a bad deal at all. Most guys buy Remington actions for not much less then spend money having the action trued, bolt release fitted, Sako or M16 extractor, new stock, new barrel and new trigger.
I got a new T3, bedded it in a A3 stock, had a Bartlein barrel and an integrated recoil lug fitted, and it's shooting really well, with more load development to do. Chad at LRI who did my work says the actions are all true. So, you get a straight, smooth action, a great trigger and a good barrel for the same as Rem SPS, which has none of those things.
