Greetings from Arizona–New Guy Here
I'm a long time Tikka owner/shooter. I stared out with one of the older original Tikka Varmint models in 308 and then bought an additional 223 Tikka Lite. Unfortunately for me, illness caused me to have to sell both rifles along with most of my outdoor hunting and fishing stuff.
About the time I'd sold off nearly all my outdoor stuff -cause I didn't think I'd ever be able to get out in the wild anymore- I regained my health again and had to start all over.
I presently own a Tikka Hunter in 6.5×55; which I recently rebarreled with a slightly longer barrel. I also bought another 223 Tikka Lite that I'm presently rebarreling with a shorter barrel as well as re-chambering to 223 Ackley Improved to try to compensate for the loss of velocity due to that shorter barrel.
This present re-barreling project is on hold right now as I wait the delivery of a small 4-jaw chuck for the 4th-Axis of my hobby mill. While I've been waiting I've been using that time to draw up some 3D printable models of an extended magazine for this same 223 rifle. I made up some 3D printed extended magazines for a couple of my other rifles and they turned out real well for me. I thought I'd try to do the same for my Tikka rifle and so far so good.
I'll have to wait till my rifle is all put back together again for testing but I'm confident this 3D printed extended magazine will work as well as the others.
I never knew that there was a Tikka shooters forum until I deliberately went looking for you. I figured that Tikkas were such a popular rifle that there must be a dedicated forum for this rifle.I'm glad to see that you exist.
I'm also a member of the cast-Boolits forum, the CNC Zone forum, Titans Of CNC forum and the HSM forums. Each have their ways of functioning. I'll have to get accustomed to the way this Tikka forum works so I can glean as much info as I can from you all. I like doing all my own gunsmithing whenever I can; which is most of the time. I'm hoping that there are alot of other do-it-yourselfers here too.
I'm going to try to upload some pics of the 3D printed magazine I was eluding to. I'm hoping you find them interesting.
