Fun Christmas until…. (No terrible story)
Had brother's family and other family members up to folks house in northern MN for Christmas and all was going well until I invited my 15 year old 6'4″ nephew to do some fun plinking with my old 10-22. Loaded 2 ,10 shot mags and Will and I went out to shoot at the clay pigeons I had set on a box.
We poked at the clays for a bit and Will decided it was cold enough for gloves and I said take one of the empty mags in the house and load it like I showed him.
I proceeded to fire the last 3 cold-stuck shells when I heard him holler. Seems like long story but in his excitement he ran back towards the house and slipped on new ice (20 deg f about) and fell and broke his jaw, chipped a tooth and cut his chin. It got a bit noisy but I'm proud of how he handled it, complaining he should not not have been running on ice.I don't know what feeling is worse than seeing a loved one in pain, but I hope I never experience it.
By the way his biggest concern was that he could not eat a bacon cheeseburger that he was looking forward to after shooting!
This kid loves shooting, he shoots my T3 Sporter .223 like a pro, and I plan to make it an option for him. So good and bad but ultimately memorable.
Merry Christmas all
