Five screws on rail of scout?
Posted by D-RAS03 on April 28, 2012 at 4:48 amThe Tikka Scout CTR has five screws in the picatinny rail. Does anyone know what the fifth screw is for? Thanks.

can you post a picture of the mount? I bet it is for the recoil lug.

Lost track of this thread. The fifth screw on the front of the rail is for a mirage band.

Hi,
I have recently taken delivery of a Tikka T3 Super Varmint and it also has 5 screws in the Picatinny-rail.
According to the manual the front most screw (part number 89 in manual) is called a “Shoulder screw”.
This screw does not tighten down flush with the rail. I originally through that the screw was loose and tried to tighten it but all this did was slightly bend the up the front of the rail. Further investigation showed that there is no corresponding hole in the action.
Is this “Shoulder Screw” the same as the “Mirage Screw”? What does a “Shoulder Screw” and a “Mirage Screw” do? Can I just leave it out, if not how tight should it be?

You can take the screw out if you want. Shoulder screw and mirage screw are the same thing. 37L1 gave a good picture for the use of the screw.

Thanks for the info guys. I just unpacked my 308 Varmint and was wondering what that screw was for.
