Factory barrel swap
I think my plan will work, but I'm throwing this question up to the experts here.
So I want a left handed stainless Tikka T3x Lite in 338 win mag. Yes, I know it's going to kick. Anyways, such a configuration isn't brought into the US. But I can get a right handed T3 in 338 win mag for cheap. I am thinking of buying a left handed T3x in 7rm or 300wm, swapping the barrels, and selling off the remaining rifle.
I've researched the work involved. Some reports of very straightforward, low risk, and cheap work; other reports of high risk of destruction while removing the stainless barrel/action mating, likelihood of having to reindex and recut the chambers, and even the barrels may even being right or left hand specific due to extractor cuts.
Is there anyone here experienced with this type of work on the Tikka actions and barrels and can shed some light on the subject? Thanks,
