Difficulty Chambering Rounds
Hey Folks I'm just looking for a little help??
On the range last week (when I say range i mean the bog here on the West of Ireland!) I had some difficulty chambering rounds into my Tikka .223.
The barrel was clear and the rounds good but the bolt just wouldn't lock and kept ejecting the bullet???
This was happening intermittently so I discontinued using the gun and took it home for a good cleaning (I keep it well cleaned and in good nick).
Now when it comes to the technical stuff I know very little other than how to clean and use the rifle – I have never taken the bolt itself apart and I don't have a local gun dealer I can take it to.
I did notice however that the bolt shroud was a little loose?
Any of you folks have any idea what could be causing this problem???Cheers!

Manufactured ammo or reloaded?

Whenever I've had trouble chambering rifle rounds, it's been because I didn't full length resize the brass when I reloaded it.
Is this a new rifle, or one that you've had, and used, a while?

I'm using manufactured ammo in a rifle that I've had for a couple of years.I'll follow the youtube video tutorial and disassemble the bolt and clean it maybe that will help?
What do you mean when you say “I didn't full length resize the brass when I reloaded it.
” – sorry but I'm not too technical or up to date on the terminology??Cheers!

He means that it was “neck sized”. There are dies that just size the neck and not the body of the brass. In some cases only sizing the neck causes difficulty in closing the bolt due to the need to size the entire case, = full length sizing. Try buying some brand name ammo and see if your problem goes away.
