CTR 308 Reload??
Posted by Brey77 on April 4, 2016 at 11:47 pmHey guys! I bought a Tikka CTR 308 and finally got around to making reloads for it that I was pretty pleased with. My best load was a 3/8″ group at 100 yards with:
-Hornady match 308 brass
-Federal 210 LRP's
-39.0 grains of IMR 4895
-168 BTHP SMK'sMy question for all the other far more experienced reloaders and CTR owners, what have you had the best luck with for the 308 in a Tikka?(Doesn't have to be the CTR) Thanks everyone!

45grs +/- of Varget and 168gr Amax shoot well out of My 308 CTR (coal = 2.825)
Best 200yrd – group I've ever fired out of the gun…
That does not happen every day but when everything comes together, its #@%& awesome!I haven't tried them in my CTR yet but 178gr Amax shoot better out of my other T3 308 Lite.
Most guys I know are shooting 150gr or 178gr, skipping the 160's completely. -

That's awesome Dog Down! Im surprised that I didn't get very good results out of my two other loads, I was told that because of the 1-11 twist that the rifle would best shoot 165-168 grains, but I shot factory federal target 180 soft points and they shot amazing out of the rifle so maybe I should go with the 178's. Thanks for the reply man!

I hear ya…it's funny how some twist rates will stabilize stuff it shouldn't.
If you try the 178gr Amax let me know how it shoots and share your load data.I shoot 208's out of my factory 300wsm barrel and its not supposed to stabilize those very well but its likes them.

Try 155 lapua scenars and varget.
It's a combination that is equally at home at a match or on a hunt.
