Compact rifle in stainless?
Posted by manoweb on February 17, 2017 at 10:16 pmHello I would like to buy as a gift a Tikka T3X rifle for hunting… is there a “compact” version (the recipient is a petite female) that is also in stainless? The Tikka website is kind of confusing to me on this regard, but I think I've seen one on a website…

Apparently the Compact does not come in stainless steel but the Lite does. Here's the spec sheet: http://cdn1.tikka.fi/sites/default/files/technicalspecs_t3x_lite_stainless_0.pdf. Without reading the whole thing in detail, it looks like you have a choice of 20 or 22 inch barrels and lots of caliber choices.
I have one in .223 and one in .243 and I like them a lot better than my primary hunting rifle, which is a Winchester 670 in .30-06 I happened to talk to a somewhat smaller than average woman who owns a T3 in .308 and she had no problem with recoil, if that helps any.

Hello thanks for the answer. I wish it was clear what are the differences between the “lite” and the “regular” version 🙁
We will visit some stores soon and see how it goes! -

I must say the adjustable cheek rest is not bad on the tactical one…
however, after many trips to the store, we realized that the regular “lite” version is actually very good for my wife, no need to get the compact. -

Well, don't keep us in suspense. What caliber did the two of you choose?

After careful consideration, also including her hunting party etc, .308win
Suspense will have to last for several more days as she's going in with all the revised paperwork today, this is California and there is considerable burden to buy a firearm. Even if she already owns other firearms, our State requires 11 days to “cool off”… (and if you think each one-way trip to the store takes an hour, we have three kids one of which is a newborn)
I guess I'll post an update in a couple of weeks

I also live in California and also live a ways from the nearest store. PM me when you have a moment and I'll tell you how I've dealt with the problem.
