CDI bottom metal Short action or Long Action
Posted by rickytan on June 7, 2016 at 8:24 pmI am about to be adding CDI DBM to my Tikka sporter stock. My barreled action is a 223 stainless varmint BA. I am not sure of the difference in short action and long action when it comes to the bottom metal. What is the best way to go about figuring this out.
Thanks in advance

Hi you have a short action, but really all tikkas are long action there's just a different bolt stop that makes them short or long

Your CDI bottom metal will need to match the magazines you will use for the caliber – so for the .223 – short action bottom metal is the way to go.
(I don't have personal experience with the CDI metal and asics mags). -

After some less than complementary reports about CDI (including my gunsmith) I went with an Atlasworxs DBM. The quality is very good and it is AI mag compatible. It will need inletting like the CDI, but is not hard to do. I did mine in about 2 hours with a very small file.

There is NOTHING sub-standard about CDI bottom metal. I have it on my 260 CTR with a Manners T2A stock. The owner (and his wife) of CDI were extremely helpful with my needs due to shortcomings from Manners when I originally ordered the stock with the CDI bottom metal. I'm running AI mags on the CTR and they run like champs.
My other precision rifle is a Rem 700 AAC with Badger bottom metal…. I can tell no difference between the Badger and CDI set ups…. You do the math 🙂
