Boyds’ stock on Tikka T3
Posted by 5_against_1 on July 22, 2014 at 1:53 pmHi all,
I'm just about to order a Boyds' stock for my Ruger 1022 and I figured I might as well get one for my Tikka. I have a Tikka T3 Lite (stainless) 7mm Rem Mag.
My question is this: Is a Boyds' stock going to be an upgrade from the factory Tikka stock? I know Manners and McMillan make some awesome Tikka stocks but I'm not willing to spend that kind of money.
I guess I just find Boyds' stocks super cheap at $100 a piece and I'm wandering where's the catch. They're fine for .22s but I can't afford to be let down when I'm hunting.
Other suggestions are welcome too.
Forgot to mention, I'm interested in their thumbhole models.
Thanks,

The Boyds stock does not have pillars, nor is it bedded…however both are DIY possible. I've got a thumbhole on a Remington 700 and after doing same it works fine.
I only wish I had gotten the 'tacticool' model for a better cheekweld. As is, I glued a 1/2″ cheekpad on it. The LOP also was short for me, I put another 1″ on her with a different recoil pad.
I would guess it would be a upgrade from a 'plastic' stock…however, My Remmy shot MOA before and after…didn't seem to matter much as far as my shooting goes…The stiffer forend was a plus for off bags or a bipod…and I like wood better than polymer.

Yes I did but I live in Canada and I'm not sure if they ship to Canada. Boyds' does for sure.
