Bolt Disassembly Video
Posted by ShtrRdy on February 6, 2012 at 4:35 amI found a video showing how to disassemble the Tikka bolt. Amazingly simple once you've seen it done.

I can't seem to get the bolt to release the handle. At 1.52 of this video there is that last click that releases the handle of the bolt and I've tried do what this video says and what the tikka m695 owners manual says and it still wont release. Is there some type of trick to it?

So this is amazing. I bought a Tikka m695 over the weekend which was brand new never fired and took it to the range to shoot. The third bullet there misfired. So I put it through again. Again misfire. I'm like wtf. So I put it through again. This time it fires and I go about my day without any more hindrances. Sight in and carry on. After I take the bolt off and try to disassemble it and I cannot get the handle nor firing pin to release. Messing with it for the past two days and watching this video I thought there must be a trick to it as I am doing everything the manual says and this video says over and over with no luck. The manual also says “The handle may be tight, tap with a plastic hammer, for example. So I'm hitting and hitting and the handle begins to move out. This is what I was hoping for! Finally….. Not so fast…. I get the handle completely out and the firing pin assembly still wont budge. I pull as hard as I can and it pulls out. What I discover is a nice bur of metal obstructing the firing pin from moving freely. I sanded the bur off with 400 grit sandpaper for metal with break free as lube and she moves freely and smooth just like in the video. All is well.

Great job fixing your problem! It's always spooky when crap don't come apart when it should. But, ya gotta tear into it. You can always find a way to put it back together. And if ya break it, ya just buy a new one.
The Tikka platform is just wonderful to work with, and so dang user friendly.
