Bell & Carlson Lefty Stocks
Posted by nshumway on November 14, 2014 at 2:35 pmI contacted Bell & Carlson and asked if I could get a lefty stock for my Tikka T3 and they stated, “No left hand for that action, sorry.” They have been making right hand stocks for that action for years. How hard can it be to make one left handed? Any ideas?

They don't want to tool up for it. Probably think they couldn't make enough money off of lefties. There are other companies that do make them though.

I sent Bell & Carlson an email today asking what it would take to make a left handed model and they replied, “I'm sorry but we don't offer a left hand and don't have a custom shop.”
Your telling me these come from Santa just the way they are and get delivered to Bell & Carlson? If they don't make them then who does? If they do make them isn't that custom? Shouldn't I be able to buy a blank that has been completely worked with the exception of the cutout for the bolt handle?
This really sucks because the next choice for a decent composite stock is a Manners that's going to cost about $600.
I'm not too hip on any type of laminate stock like custom shop offers and I don't like the synthetic stock at all. I don't want a modular set-up and I am hunting with the gun.
Any suggestions on aluminum bedded, bolt and go composite stocks for a lefty Tikka T3 Lite SS .270?

I did look at their stocks and I am not sure that I want to use anything wood/ever/at all. I asked about the Comp/TAC Stock for the Tikka T3 and they replied…..
Q: How is the comp/TAC stock bedded? And is the stock solid or is it hollow like the factory one? Also what is the difference between stratabond laminate and a composite stock? ( Nick, 04/11/2014 )
A: Nick, Our Comp/Tac stock is a stratabond stock (stratabond is stabilized wood-which means it's been infused with a polyester epoxy resin). As such, it can be mounted without any extra bedding. Of course, we're big fans of bedding here at MT, so we recommend a skim bed- at least. We're also quite happy to do the bedding for you if you send in your rifle. ( RP, 06/11/2014 )
A few things I didn't like about the stock are “stabilized wood” and “recommend a skim bed”
I I'm not sure that I like the idea of Epoxy Resin Bedding vs Aluminum Bedding but I have to admit…. I am open to being schooled on the pro's and con's of both because I don't know crap about them. I am about to make a post here in a minute about an email I sent to Manner's asking about some of this stuff.
