Barrel Touch Up
Posted by Fightntxag01 on March 24, 2015 at 1:37 pmSo I'm installing my TAC into the new KRG X-ray chassis and notice that there is about a 1 inch mark where the barrel at the chamber area was rubbing the factory stock and has taken it down to what looks like bare metal. Any suggestions from the masters on here what I can do? The looks of it suck and I would like to do some thing to keep the eye from going to it but most of all I want to protect it from rust.

Any light coating of gun oil should keep it from rusting until you're able to get a more permanent solution to the problem.

The product YukonAl mentioned is amazing!
I use it on the rails I cut down to TIKKA receiver lengths, I hate having Picatinny rails hang out over the receiver. You can't see the cut or touch up when done, it blends that well.
The marker paint wears like any paint but its really does work well for coverups.
Here's a good video link to see actual test results https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YvUzB_jZjXQAnd a picture of a EGW rail I cut back and touched up for my rifle build. Not the greatest pic but you can see it works well.

Thanks guys. As always to the rescue. I'll get one of those and touch it up. The video was definitely nice too.

Eric, I picked one up locally and it worked well. After further inspection the metal wasn't exposed completely but I went ahead and ran one coat. For the most part the flat black matched the factory coating. But I'm also going to touch up my AR now that I have it.
They also make a couple bright colors that come in a set for using on sights which I will be ordering. It will help with picking up the open sights on my pistols, AR, and SKS that I almost can't see the front sight on at all. Guess I should wear the glasses I'm supposed to. Oh well.
