Barrel gone?
Ctr 260 1200-1300 rounds down tube. Groups great on paper .25moa. I never shoot a lot unless I'm at a match. The past 3 weekends we have had matches with 85,75,&83 rounds. Every match I start out great shooting over 80% but once I get 25-30 round fired I lose all accuracy for rest of the day. Same thing happened today started strong then should of went home. Checked my dope many times and talked to others about there dope and they all was on target. I went back out just few minutes ago with same dope and shot out to 580 which I shot today. The first time I shot it in the first three stages with no problems then missed it later on. So when barrel barrel gets some heat in it I can't hit 12×12 at 330 but with cold gun 8″ plate at 580 isn't a problem. They said most of my shots fell off way short. I ordered a new barrel few weeks ago I hope it's simple and nothing else.

Good summary of the issue.
I see nothing from your description that makes me consider anything aside from a worne barrel if said barrel was 6mm or 6.5.
I would expect another 1k from a 6.5
All that said, you sound like a competent shooter. -
thanks, I figured so, im new to shooting so pardon myself. I have had other rifle but never shot a lot.

Sounds like your barrel is done. I don´t know your cleaning regime/procedure but the shot Count strikes me as pretty low for a well taken-care barrel. Do you shoot excessively hot loads ?

Hot loads no. A few was warm to try to see if I could get speed up but dropped it back down. It's going to smith to have barrel to come off. I'm looking to trade action for stainless for my build if I can't then I'm using the old action for biuld. Smith said he is sure barrel is done for.

that's a pretty low round count for the barrel to be letting go. I have ..2600 rounds through my 260 CTR and although I'm starting to chase the lands a bit, the accuracy is still very good. Before you go and buy a new $600 barrel, i'd experiment with different bullet weights first.
