ADVICE FOR NEW TIKKA OWNER
Hi Guys, Im brand new to this forum so take it easy on me ;D I am awaiting arrival of my first Tikka, its a Varmint in .243 with a 20″ barrel an a 1:10 twist. I use it for hunting only and mostly on Deer an Foxes. My last .243 was a Howa an I used Federal ballistics in 95 Grain for Deer and 55 Grain on foxes. I tried a few different types of ammo but it was the federal that grouped best for me so I was just wondering what any of you guys with a Tikka varmint in .243 recommend in ammo and any other advice would be very welcome.

If you're not rolling your own HSM seems to perform extremely well.

If you do load your own the Hornady 87 gr VMAX works great in my 10 twist Tikka 243.
I haven't shot factory ammo in it in so long I don't have an idea of what will group well, in fact of the 2 boxes of factory stuff I have bought in 243 I still have 1/2 of 1 box. -
I thought the Varmint models came with a barrel longer than 20″
95 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip. Work up a load with that, and kill anything in NA except for grizzlys.
