? about rebarrell
Posted by Anonymous on November 29, 2015 at 1:00 amIm new to the custom gun world and trying to read and learn as I go. I have a question that I haven't been able to find the answer to. Im going to purchase a T3 action and rebarrell to a 6.5 CM. Is there a caliber range Tikka I should purchase or will ant caliber work?

I am not an expert by any definition but the .308 rim dia = .4728 and creedmore = .4730 according to wiki.
This means you can use the same bolt for either cartridge. You should explore the many and varied website posts dealing with this subject. Good luck friend!

Ok Jgg I will do some research and post it here
Can you please post some details here?
Tell us what you want.
For example:
You can get a new Tikka in .260 which is more capable than the Grendel. What is your goal?Do you have an AR style rifle in the Grendel and want to match it with a Tikka?
Let us know.

Ok if I had unlimited funds or coin
6.5 creedmore is weak compared to .260 factory standard.
For crying out loud, get the .260

Sorry I sounded a bit pedantic.
Choose your fav cartridge and work with it

Only a tiny difference between 6.5 Creedmoor and .260, so I question the need to get a new barrel. But it's your rifle, so if you go ahead, any short calibre will be fine – .260, 7mm-08, .308. The only difference in T3s is the bolt stop is shooter for long calibres to allow a longer bolt throw. Magnums obviously have a wider bolt face and wouldn't work. Essentially, all T3s are long action and the only difference is the bolt stop.

J is right, don't worry about the action length with the Tikkas.
The short is limiting, the long is forgiving.
Go with the long and work out the smithing details from there
