695 Vs T3 for custom
Hey everyone. Figured i'd start the party with a little discussion. I'm building a .25-06 custom 695 with 26″ shillen match barrel and mcmillan stock. I was wondering if the T3 is as stable of an action as the 695. and how they compare. I'm very excited to have a tikka forum that we can all come to discuss the “step child” of rifles. For whatever reason, people see the tikka as an OK choice. Maybe if we could get more aftermarket, they'd come around. anyways, feel free to point out any dis-advantages of the two. The biggest one for me is the plastic trigger guard. Thanks everyone!

The 695 and 595 were staples in the benchrest community until aftermarket support dried up. That action is proven and will serve you well in a custom.
That being said, as I have been putting together a vendor list, there is still very little support for the 595 and 695 platform.
If your goal is to have a custom stock inletted or will use the standard equipment with a custom barrel, then stick with the 695.
If you goal is to customize everything, then the T3 platform will be less costly in the long run.

I think that either one is going to be fine. It would sadden me a little to see someone tear apart a perfectly good whitetail hunter model when the T3 is so abundant. I am doing a complete rebuild of a t3 right now and i think its going to be fairly straight forward.. Not tons of options out there but there are some good ones.

My whitetail hunter was the all black synthetic, and shot right around MOA…I've got the action back, and if it shoots as good as it looks, I'd say it'd make you cry for joy. I'm hoping sub 1/2″ which should be doable for a shillen match barrel
