.308 Tikka T3 to 6.5×55 SWE ?
Hi All, relatively young shooter here (go easy on me!). Greetings from KS!
My first Tikka was a T3 Scout .308. It's been great to introduce me into precision shooting. So great that it convinced me I needed a TAC A1.
When it gets in, I'll have 2 rifles in the same caliber for vaguely the same purpose. The T3's been shot enough there's no sense in selling it. Since it has a fair bit of sentimental value, I'd like to try and convert it into 6.5×55 so it can live on as something a little rarer. (I already have an 1896 Mauser in 6.5×55) and would like to not stock a new ammo)
I'm still young and learning how all these things work, but from the pages I've read, the difference in bolt face is negligible for the 2 cases, and given the T3 is a long action, I'm GTG on that. Is that right?
The Plan:
New Krieger Barrel on the action, throw it into an XLR Element Chassis and would then need to feed it AICS Long Action P-Mags, right?
Greatly appreciate your help! (If this is indeed possible, would love gunsmith recommendations in KS if anyone has any…most seem to not want to work on anything that isn't a Rem 700. )
