.243 Hand Loads
I've been working on two specific loads for my Tikka .243. One uses Remington 100 grain soft point Core-Lokts over 34.5 grains of IMR 4064 with a 2.65 inch OAL. Group size is a little over an inch, which is good enough for coyotes and antelope.
The other uses Nosler 55 grain varmint bullets over 43.5 grains of IMR 4064 seated to Nosler's recommended 2.61 inch OAL. It groups a bit better than the Core-Lokts but I'd like to shrink that group if I can by changing seating depth, because this is a squirrel load. Smaller target requires better accuracy. I measured by chamber and this loading is 110 thousandths off the lands, which seems like a lot.
Has anyone loaded these and if so, I'd be interested in accuracy and seating depth.
In case anyone *might* be interested, Hornady 55 grain V-MAX loaded over 26 grains of W748 seated to 2.25 inches grouped under 3/4 inch yesterday at about 3050 FPS average.
