Muzzle brake?
Posted by Wasabi on October 9, 2011 at 12:59 pmI've got a SS T3 Lite 300WSM and am thinking about adding a brake. What are my options out there and which is the best? Any downside or things to consider in adding one?
Thanks.

Downside is lot more noise and lot more dust if shooting prone. I like brakes on big calibers.

Definitely the noise. A lot of brakes now have no bottom ports so the dust problem goes away. I like having a brake more for minimizing muzzle flip/rise rather than the recoil.
You can also try a limbsaver pad since the stock pad is crummy.

Thanks for the replies,
The noise doesn't seem to be a big downside since I don't plan on shooting too many rounds at any given time. I already bought a Limbsaver for it too. I'm hoping between it and a brake that my 300WSM will be a smooth shooting beast. Where can I find a good SS brake?
Thanks again for the input.

Personally I like the Holland QD brake. I've been testing the HSS bolt on brake and am very impressed (which is not easy since I am skeptical of most brakes). Unfortunately there is no bolt on solution for sporter barrels… yet.. 😀

Thanks for the reply Jason,
I'll look into the Holland brake. I like that HSS brake but it looks as if I'm SOL with my T3 barrel. I'm now wondering if I should even get a brake or just roll with my Limbsaver.

OK,
this is my T3 Sport er 6,5x55SE with S&B PM II 5-25×56, SAKO TRG muzzle brake, Roedale tactical bolt handle, VersaPod and some other little things
PS – under a 1/2 MOA at 300m(328yard) with usually ammo.
What's your opinion about this muzzle brake and the rifle? -

That looks seriously wicked!
What's that saying, the difference between men and boys is the price of their toys. Nice toy!
On the topic of muzzle brakes, I have one on a 6.25lb 300WSM and it turns that recoil beast into a pussy cat. Seriously, the recoil is hardly any different than a 243, absolute cream puff, but you must wear your hearing protection or you will damage your hearing. Wear hearing protection every time, even hunting, no exceptions.

It looks great!
Where did you get it and how much was it?
I also have a .300 T3 lite SSOK,

I have two muzzle brakes that are not needed right now. I have the TRG 22/42 for the .308 Tactical in 18x1M thread as shown in the photo above and the same thread for the Tactical T3 in .223 made by KDF. The KDF was never used as I never got the .223 rifle. The TRG was never used, but it was mounted so has a couple of scuff marks. They are barely there though. Interested parties email please and we can discuss the price. I am very easy to get along with.
New to this forum, but not new to shooting forums.

I can thoroughly recommend both the SSG Mini-extreme and the APA “Little Bastard”
Get your smith to thread the barrel, time the brake and your gtg.
