I do have one complaint about my new Tikka. With the trigger adjustment screw dialed all the way out, I'm getting an unacceptable 3.5# trigger pull, as measured by my RCBS Premium Trigger Pull Gauge.
Any thoughts/suggestions? The advertising says it's adjustable from 2# to 4#.

While it's true that I've done a lot of loading (I'm a class 06 manufacturer.), I also don't care to reinvent the wheel. ;D Accordingly, I'm not going to start as close to the lands as I typically have done in the past. Based on the experiences posted in this thread, I'll start at maybe .030″-or-so and see how it goes.
I'm kind of committed to WC844 powder, which loads like H335, since I have about 100# on hand. However, I'll try several different bullet weights and designs to see what my rifle likes.
I'm kind of skeptical about my 1-10″ barrel's ability to stabilize 69gr SMKs, but I'm going to give them a try, anyhow. Just received a box of 250, 50gr Vmaxes, which I know will do well. Also have some 55gr Hornady hollow point match, a bunch of Hornady 55gr bulk fmj, etc.
My Tikka will be here tomorrow (Wed.). I'm pretty stoked about getting out to the range.

My new .223 Varmint will arrive in a few days. Bud's only had the one-in10″ model, so I won't be shooting heavy, long bullets. I have about 100# of wc844 on hand. Loads like h335. Always had good luck with 844.

Please take this as a totally benign, friendly suggestion, but I'd advise the OP to brush up on his h.s. physics. 8)

I have no Tikka experience, but my new Tikka Varmint in .223 will be here soon; however, I do have a lot of experience in loading for precision rifles. There's nothing magic or different about a Tikka. You have to experiment with different distances off the lands with different loads and bullet designs, for optimal accuracy, as with any other rifle.
I usually start at about .010″ off the lands and work out to see what happens to the groups.

Maybe I'm just an ignorant countryman, but why on Earth would anybody buy a magazine that expensive that comes with no warranty and so many caveats from the manufacturer.
Those plain ol' 6-rd Tikka factory plastic mags @ $41-or-so look pretty good to me! 8)

I would have preferred the 1-in-8 twist, but “settled” for a 1-in-10 at Bud's for about $100 less.Pretty sure the 1-in-10 will shoot pretty well. Got some 50gr. Vmax bullets on the way. ;D Rifle will arrive at local FFL in a few days. Can't wait to shoot it.
Became bored with bolt rifles a couple years ago and sold my two excellent 700 varmints. However, always wanted a Tikka, so sprang for one at Bud's over the weekend. ;D

My first post. Been thinking about Tikkas for years. Wanted to buy a varmint in .243 several years ago, (pre-T3) but discovered that .243s weren't imported, so wound up with a pretty decent Remmy 700 VLS.
At any rate, I've done a lot of shooting…just not with a Tikka yet. I ordered the .223 Varmint a few days a go from Bud's and it'll be here soon.
I'd defer to the late Gale McMillan, whose barrels hold benchrest world records. Ol' Gale said that barrel break-in was silliness. If it only serves as a placebo to the shooter, then the only harm that's done is that you've probably decreased the barrel life marginally. 😀
