    yukonal,

Wow, I had no idea the factory rings were that bad.  I have two T3 Stainless Lite rifles.  One chambered in 22-250 and the other in .243.  I'm using the factory rings on the 22-250 and have expereinced no problems.  One the .243 I installed a picatinny rail and 30mm rings because of the scope I use on it.  I guess the low recoil of the 22-250 is the reason my factory rings haven't moved.

To the OP.  If you're rifle is chambered in anything more powerful that 22-250, I retract my statement regarding the factory rings. 🙂

What are you going to use the rifle for?  Hunting?  Target shooting?  Competition?  And at what distances do you expect to be shooting?  Usually the use to which you will put the rifle informs the question of what scope you purchase.  That said, $200 isn't going to get you much scope.

Also, do you plan to spend $200 on just the scope or the scope and mount?  Your T3 should have included 1″ rings that mount to the integral rail, thus obviating the need to purchase aftermarket rings/base.  Unless of course, you plan to purchase a scope with a 30mm tube (which are usually more expensive).

    Probably a T3, not an S3.

I agree with msgtmike.  My “plastic” framed Glock is certainly a heavy duty pistol.  Likewise, my two Tikka T3 rifles are more than capable of handling my hunting and range work.

And, to answer the OP's question, off the top of my head, at least the following parts of the Tikka T3 are polymer: stock, magazine, trigger guard, end of the bolt handle, bolt shroud… there may be some others but I'm not at home so I can't look at one for confirmation.

Have you considerd 22-250?  I have a T3 Lite Stainless in 22-250 that makes a great coyote rifle.  If you don't like stainless, a little rattle can camo is a cheap remedy.
