    Hi Superpig

My 300WM is also free floating up to about 4″ from the action but I thought this was due to an aluminum bedding block added, also switched the standard lug for a ss one and had the action bedded. The rifle does not seem to like the factory ammo too much but I get about 1.5MOA with Federal Power Shok 180gr. With the light stock this thing kicks like a mule, but I suspect after adding a Roedale RCSII this might change. Sorry to hear the Tikka did not quite meet your expectations, maybe have a smith check it out.

Hope you get better performance from it soon!

Sorry Jason, I was not very clear in the email, it's not your fault. The stock maker actually wanted both but I am sure he will be able to go far with the barrel dimensions and then a gunsmith can just tune it up in South Africa for a neat fit. The local distributor got a hold of Sako/tikka but it looks like they want to keep the information confidential and don't want me to have it, bit weird, but if I could have the barrel dimensions from you I will really appreciate it!

    Regards

Varmint does not have the heavy barrel and the receiver does not come with a picatinny as a standard. The stock of the super varmint is also supposed to have an adjustable cheek piece but I think the gunsmith cheated me out of it when I had the action bedded and he put the regular stock on. I hoped to replace the stock anyway to a Manners or McMillan in the near future so it does not really matter.
