If I saved for a while a .308 could work better but Im just trying to work with what I got. I would still be shooting out to 200-300yds.</p>

I need a short barreled rifle and am seeing if this would be a good route to go</p>
<p>My reason is being a magnum the loss of speed wouldn&#039;t be as significant as say a 270win,308 or 30-06 if I was doing the same thing. </p>

I have been using 130gr Federal Powershok soft points they are sposed to be doing 3250.</p>
<p>How do you think recoil would be with a shorter barrel, the WSM isn&#039;t the gentlest shooting rifle. </p>
<p>Now I have to find someone who does quality gunsmithing here in Hawaii. </p>

Love it, pretty light with a decent recoil lug system and was able to see on average a .15-.25&#8243; decrease on my groups versus my factory wood stock. <p>The ram was shot at around 100yds prone off my bi-pod. I didn&#039;t get an exact range as we were stalking a few sheep and they busted out of the forest into an old lava flow and presented me with short window to take a shot. Happened really quickly but I got a clean heart shot and he only went a couple yards. </p>

With the factory walnut stock I had plenty of play with the recoil lug and I was getting 1&#8243; groups with factory ammo. It would benefit from a bedding job. </p>
<p>I went with a Bell and Carlson Medalist stock and it has an integrated recoil lug system in the stock and is very tight with no play at all. <p>Thanks so much for the input and advice. I ended up going with the Zeiss. In the end the Rapid Z 800 reticle matched my caliber perfectly and I don&#039;t plan on dialing with my turrets. The less math and calculating I have to do in my head the better and I won&#039;t need the exactness of dialing.</p>

I did handle the Zeiss and agree the quality is very high that&#039;s why I am still very much considering it. </p>

Vortex are USA made and have one of the best warranties I have been able to find they&#039;ll replace it even if I break it. </p>

Went to the range this morning and shot some decent groups just under to about 1 MOA. I think once I get the torque right and get the right ammo I&#039;ll be set. So far surprisingly the Shoks seem to shoot better shooting just under 1 moa at 100yds. </p>
<p>My groups have been opening up a bit more as I have put more rounds through the rifle and I have seen noticeable dents in the factory recoil lug. How do you like the thumbhole? I have never shot one.</p>
<p>I also picked up a DNZ one piece billet scope mount this week so hoping to get under .75moa with some good ammo. I haven&#039;t looked at reloading it yet but am thinking about it cause 270wsm is hard to get here in Hawaii.</p>

It is much better and I am getting used to it and shooting sub 1&#8243; groups. Love this rifle. </p>
