The "new" Tikka T3X
Posted by Sir Ville on March 4, 2016 at 9:28 amSo – all heil the new King ! Wait a minute : It´s the same as the old King 🙂
OK, with modular stocks and aluminium bolt shroud. Then again – why mess with a great success.

Thanks for posting this…I like the improvements, looks like they really listened to us buyers regarding the small things we all gripe about.
I really like the changeable grip option on the synthetic stock, great idea to integrate that into the line.

Not an english video but figured I'd post it anyhow…
-
Improvements:
– Steel recoil Lug
– Metal bolt shroud
– Changeable grip
– Proper recoil pad
– Word is… it's now fitted with a FREE FLOATED BARREL ON THE SYNTHETIC STOCK (need to see it to fully believe it, but makes you wonder about those so called “planned” pinched points on the previous synthetic stock to help with accuracy…. ;)…) -
Does this mean my “old style” T3's are going to be collectors items? Hehe I'm more interested in how prices for new and old T3's will be affected.

Sir Ville, What I find interesting is if you go to Tikka website and click on the T3X icon, then go to filtering options it list all the caliber options along with the 22lr, 22 wmr, 17 hmr and 17 mach 2!

I emailed Berreta and asked if Sportsmans warehouse and Cabela's will be getting Tikka T3x super lites. This was their response, “I do not believe that there will be a Super Lite T3x.”

One thing is for sure : Neither Tikka nor Sako will make a new .17M2. That cal is all but dead this side of the Pond. There has been a rumor circulating about a Tikka Rimfire though.
-
I think Sako makes the Quad which is a switch barrel rimfire (although is costs north of $1500).. Couldn't you put an after market 17 mach 2 barrel on one?
-
So according to our Beretta rep, the T3X will be roughly $100 more than the standard T3. No ETA on the US receiving these…
It is still unclear if Tikka will keep both models so they can compete with a lower priced model.

Oh yes. I have a Quad Range (in a GRS Sporter/Varmint stock at the moment) and it´s a great barrel changer. What i meant is that there will , most probably, be any new model .17 M2 since no one in Europé uses that and what i have Heard it´s almost extinct cal over there too. Pitty since it´s a fun round but the .17 HMR blows it out of the water so it was never any hit over here.
Eley used to make cartridges but stopped after a while .. 🙁 -
From talking to the sportsmans warehouse regional manager and a firearm manager guy at Cabela's. It sounds like the T3x's will get here late July to early August. Also from talking to them it sounded like they are going to start phasing the T3's out instead of manufacturing both models.

Sounds about right. No use to keep two almost identical guns competing against each other so one (T3) may most probably be ditched.

Beretta is trying to convince Tikka to keep the standard T3 because of the price point it fills here in the states.
We'll see what happens.

I couldn't imagine that there would be a significant price difference between the two models. I could see the price of the T3x's being slightly higher the first few monthes or maybe even a year but after the T3's are gone it will go back to normal prices. The guns are similar enough that they would be competing in the same market. Idk… IMO, There is no reason to keep both. We'll see though, I might be completely wrong.
