T3x Chamber Gouge?
My T3x Varmint .223, is 1.5 years old, and has about 500 rounds run through it. I was shooting normally, factory ammo, nothing out of the ordinary. I fired a shot, then found the bolt very difficult to open. After a little, out of the ordinary force, the bolt was opened, and casing ejected. I checked the casing, and it had a dimple in it …. not good. I took the rifle to a buddy with a borecam, and found gouges in the chamber. Apparently, this rifle is toast, not serviceable, and not worth the expense to have it re-chambered, or put on a new barrel etc.. For that expense, I could just buy a new rifle.
Anyway …. my question is not about warrantees, etc., but whether anyone else has ever had this issue, with any rifle? What do you think may have caused the gouge? Personally, I don't think it is warranty, and somehow I may have caused this? I do know that a brass cartridge could never cause this kind of damage, it had to be a hardened metal, or maybe something about the bolt. The bolt is fine.
Thanks for your input;
Allan
