Rebarrel
Hi all,
I'm new to this forum. I've look at some of the posts and I could not find the answer I was looking for. I'm trying to rebarrel my Tikka T3 lite. It has the stainless barrel/action and is fluted. I have tried everything to get consistent groupings with 150-160 gr bullets and have failed. I have tried every box of ammo I could find and I'm still getting 1.25+ MOA. I've cleaned the barrel appropriately with nylon brushes, patches, solvents (those recommended by Tikka and my gunsmith) and etc. With 134 gr Barns Vort-LX I'm getting .5-.75 MOA all day out to 100-400. Im thinking it's the 1-9.5 twist. I want/need to shoot a heavier round. I'm looking into Krieger, Brux, and Bartline barrels. I'm having trouble with picking a contour. I want to keep the weight about the same as it is from factory due to this being my mountain/light weight gun. However, Krieger will not do a barrel less than a bull sporter which is listed at 4lbs. Does anyone know what the factory barrel weighs (fluted 24.75 inch), or what the contour is technically. A 4lb barrel on a 1lb 14 oz receiver/bolt and a 1.91 stock doesn't add up to the factory weight. Thank you for all your input.
