Easy single shot magazine Mod….
First Post… Hello all Tikka People!
Just purchased a “slightly used” Tikka T3 .223 varmint a few days ago, and really like the feel, trigger and smoothness of the rifle. I usually shoot my bench/Prairie Dog rifles single shot loaded.
I did a quick, easy mod to one of my Tikka T3 Varmint magazines to allow easier single shot loading…
Using a screwdriver, I pressed down on the rear of the follower, which tips the front of the follower up. Keep pressing down until the tip of the follower releases and can be slid forward. I stopped when the front of the follower was even with the front of the magazine well.
I inserted the mag and singly cycled a dozen rounds through it (without shooting them) and it worked great.
Since I have extra mags, I added a spot of “Amazing Goop” glue to the follower to keep it in place in case recoil might rattle it loose and follow the bolt forward.
Works great and that Goop glue will easily peel off if I want to return the mag to its original function.

Probably not a new idea, but didn't see anything when I did a search.
The new T3 Varmint shoots a couple factory loads really well, but I'll set up my .223 dies later this week and give it a go to try to fashion some accurate prairie dog loads for it.
I had been loading for and using my Savage .204 for about a year, but accuracy seems to be a bit wonky this past summer.
