CTR mounting scope
Posted by Brandon194 on March 26, 2019 at 11:16 amI’m new to precision rifle shooting, intend on ultimately reaching out to over 1,000 yards, and have some questions about how to mount my scope to achieve this. I have a Tikka t3x ctr with a Nikon Black FX1000 4-24×50 scope.
1. Do I need to replace the rail, and if so what would you suggest? 20MOA?
2. What scope ring heights do you suggest? Any preferred rings specifically?ericajohnson3422 replied 2 years ago 4 Members · 5 Replies -

Hi the tikka rail isn’t that bad but saying that I’d change it for a mountian tactical / trie-one or Spuhr one as for the mount , if your budget will let you go Spuhr , there expensive but when you see / get one you can understand why , ever so slightly cheaper Trie- one also well engineered , has for height I’d get the lowest that will fit your combination , as for added moa on the rail or mounts , just run your data through a ballistic calculator and see how meny moa you need to add at your 1000 yards , for me if it says 30 moa using a 0 moa rail ,(just using any number just to show you) and your scope is zero at 100 I’d go 20 moa ether mounts or rail or a bit of both , this is just how I’d do it other people might disagree but there wrong lol

I appreciate the feedback. I ended up going with a 20 moa mount and leaning towards just keeping the rail as is. If anyone thinks I’m making a terrible mistake please let me know and I can change course.
