CTR Magazine
Having shot only a few hundred rounds my Tikka 223 CTR needs a replacement 10 round metal magazine as the follower often angles the cartridge incorrectly, so that the bolt either rides over it or picks it up enough to ram it into the metal above the chamber (which blunts the point) and makes ejecting and reloading necessary. The follower seems to angle the cartridge incorrectly, so that the bolt either rides over it or picks it up enough to ram it into the metal above the chamber (which blunts the point) and makes ejecting and reloading necessary. One fix that worked temporarily was the use of a screwdriver to bend out the lip on the magazine catch, which stopped the rattle and reduced the frequency of a misload… but they still occur. I have been told of various fixes (1.Use only Sako ammo ? 2. Bend the follower spring in six to 8 places to level the upwards pressure. 3. Wash out the magazine and apply dry lubricant. 4. Make sure the replacement mag is not sourced in Australia because Tikka magazine problems seem to to be quite common here.) I do not want to void the warranty but when I rang my dealer he told me there were three CTR magazines currently on order for comparatively new rifles at his shop.
