CTR magazine- only holding 9 rounds
Posted by rwade545 on April 8, 2016 at 6:34 pmBeen shooting my CTR for a few range days. Thanks to this site managed to stop the mag falling out with heavy recoil rounds. As I have been load developing I have only been loading 3-5 into the mag. Went to fill it and only 9 fit in. The tenth just doe not fit, nearly but not quite. Tried both PPU and lapua brass, fired relaods and factory. Any one else experience the same?
Great shooting rifle.

It is probably meant for 9 + 1 in the chamber. That seems pretty typical of mags listing the chambered round.

The older style of CTR/TRG magazine could fit 10 rounds in them, I checked for myself yesterday.

Howdy,
Mine is a little snug at 10, so I just load 9……
Same with my Glock 21, I only load 12…Paul

would opening the lips up slightly increase the size slightly as only amm or so off being able to get the 10th round in. Or would that mess up with the magazine feed?

I would not mess with the feed lips on a $200 mag….is it the end of the world that it only holds 9?
Why such a big deal? Worst case, chamber one….the mag may loosen up the more you use it.
Make sure its oiled and operating properly.I actually wish we could get a 5rd mag so I could ditch the 10rd.

euro optics has a 5rd mag for the ctr. i bought one a couple weeks ago. it looks the same as the 10rd but just doesn't double stack the rounds.

No the end of the world, but if you bought a jeep and it was only 3 wheel drive you would want to find out if there was a fix, most of the time it's no bother but when you need it then ( do some 10 round competitions) then it's handy to have.

I hear you…try oiling the mag and some rounds to provide the least amount of resistance and see if it will compress enough for you to squeeze in a 10th round, if it works let it sit for a day of so with the tension loaded. I've had to do this in the past with other mags and its worked most of the time.
