Bent rail on T3x CTR
Pulled my rifle out to reset the scope and noticed I couldn’t change the magnification. Tried to figure out why and realised it was pressed into the rail. Further inspection revealed that the front of the rail had lifted and my scope had slid forward, pressed against its rings. As I unscrewed the scope rings, I noticed that most (not all) the screws had loosened. I attempted to reinstall the picatinny’s screw, but it won’t go in more than a millimetre before meeting significant resistance.
Has anyone seen anything like this before and knows the cause? Could it be a bad installation at the factory?
I’ve tried to wrap my head around the cause, but have only got so far. Here’s where I’m at…
– It’s not rough treatment. The rifle has been to the range once and fired 70 rounds. It wasn’t dropped or banged into anything. It travelled in a foam-lined case and otherwise lives in a safe.
– It’s not due to recoil. The scope has moved enough that I can’t take a sight picture. Therefore, I would’ve noticed it while firing.
– Whatever caused this, it occurred while the rifle was immobile in a safe. Maybe it’s an issue from the factory or some environmental factor?
Any help would be appreciated!
Cheers,
Sam
