Tikka Sporter .308 Load Data
Posted by xxx on October 26, 2013 at 3:11 amHi all. I need some bullet advice for this 1/11 twist 24″ barrel. I have some RL 15 and IMR 4895 to start out with but was curious about bullet choices. How about Sierra 168 or 175 grain BTHP? Thanks in advance for any help.

What you shooting at and how far. I'm shooting targets at 1000 yards here with 155 vld Berges and getting 1moa groups

Most of the time to 300yds for reduced Palma matches but occasionally to 800 for metal targets. Thanks

155 Scenars, and 180 VLD Hybreds.
Varget is a popular powder for the .308.

Varget and 155 are very good, if its windy try 175 sierra MK. The only down side to either is sitting them close to the lands as the throat is very long. I seat my 155 Bergers 120 thou off COAL 2.840
Varget I tested all the way up to 47 grains but went back to 46.2. Max in some guides is 44.9 so be careful -

My T3 Lite SS in 308 likes Berger VLD 168 with 46.5 Varget.
That said, your barrel is slightly longer, so mileage may vary.
Varget does seems to be very popular for 308.A friend is loading some H4350 with Sierra 165 game-kings for me. I will let you know how it goes when I get them. They are, of course, a hunting load.

175 SMK with 44.3 grains of Varget. Works good in my TRG.
For my T3s I run 46 grains and a 165 boat tail hollow point Game King.
