Tricky T3 .223 magazine
Posted by Bee Bee on December 19, 2011 at 9:33 pmRecently bought my first centrefire – a Tikka .223 varmint stainless. Great so far and accuracy is increasing with use. Only problem I have is I find the 5 shot magazine very tricky to load. Most of the time I can only get 3 round only and have to empty magazine and start again. Anyone else had this problem? Feels like the spring is getting caught internally.
Any help would be appreciated.yukonal replied 14 years, 5 months ago 3 Members · 6 Replies -

If you have the owners manual, it shows you how to take the follower and spring out. It's very easy. Pop it out, and have a look. Maybe need to sand a burr.

Why is it that the customer needs to repair the magazine that is supposed to work?

The customer doesn't have to. He has the option to send it in for warrantee repair. He chose to try to fix the problem himself. I gave him an avenue to explore. If he doesn't get it to feed, he can still have Beretta fix it.
Take a deep breath…

Thanks for info. I took the spring and plastic moulding out. It looks like the magazine is moulded in two parts, stuck together horizontally. This gives a recessed join line which was catching on the front edge of the moulding. I very lightly deburred the follower and oiled the internal faces and all seems OK now.

Glad I could help. 😉 Makes you feel a little more in “tune” with you rifle when you fix, or modify small stuff like that.
You can also mill out .040″-.060″ out of the front of the magazine if you need the xtra room for longer bullets. Leave SOME material there, tho, for strength. I've done it to every magazine I use. ;D
