What is your longest kill with a Tikka?
Posted by Tikkamike on August 1, 2011 at 4:07 pmWhat is everyones longest kill with a Tikka? Be specific, Caliber, Bullet range, animal, and any specifics on the rifle/scope you want to give.
My longest with a Tikka is 760 on a doe antelope. Using my Tikka T3 Lite 25-06 loaded with 110 Accubonds. Scope is a Zeiss Rapid Z-800.

I'm taking this same gun to a comp in a few weeks out to 1,000.

T3 stainless in 270wsm is on my bucket list. that is my altime favorite coyote caliber. fling a 140 out there at 3200 fps, shoot flat way better in with than .22 cal, I used to have one in a model 70 that I miss a lot. I think the 270 wsm is highly underrated. Good luck at your competition. I wish I could see that looks your gonna get walking up to the firing line with your plastic factory rifle and smoke everyone haha

I'm working with some 165 Matrix bullets right now. Getting close to 3000 fps with a BC of .72ish. I'm going to try some H1000 to get more consistency out of the load.
With a little work, I was able to modify my magazine to give me 3.4 inches of room to work with the VLDs.

Berger 140, 150, and Matrix 165.
Long range goodness ;D

Not as good as the Bergers with RL17. I typically see .3 – .5 groups with the Bergers.
These were sub moa but with pressure signs early on.
My thought is that a slower burning powder will solve the pressure issues.
I'll keep everyone posted.

528yrds, was the biggest, nastiest 2 liter Mountain Dew bottle I had ever seen. Just happened to be at the right place at the right time! Luckily it stood still the first 7 shots, LMAO!!

Cold barrel shot. 425m off a silage bale. Think I dialed in around 7mph wind.
20″ 223 lite with ultra light carbon pse stock, Delta 6 baffle ultra light suppressor.
69gr custom match bullet. Can recomend 52 & 69gr custom match for varmint and deer.

Going Pheasant hunting in western ND next week. We have plans to set up long range targets from 200m to 900m to try out our rifles.
We are hoping to get some of the coyotes that populate our area and I am bringing 2 Tikkas one a hunter stainless 30-06 and the other a Sporter .223 24 inch that I intend to hit steel at 900m or 1000yds .
the sporter shoots 80 gr smks in 1/3 inch at 100 yds with prelim powder tests.

I set up my friend who was visiting me in Hawaii on this Mouflon sheep at 356yds with my rifle. We were at 5000' with Mauna Kea a 14,000' dormant volcano in the background.

Hmmm, I've made a couple pokes with the Shamwow (not a Tikka), but with a Tikka? Probably this cow at 415 with the T3 lite 300 wsm. 208 amax over reloader 17 in win brass & cci br2's. MT parts list: Thumbhole Tactical stock, recoil lug, shroud, gen II steel rail, and muzzle break. And of course, limbsaver recoil pad.
I'll work on some more respectable shots on canines this winter & see if I can get video of some longer shots on gophers next spring with the 223ai…
