Picatinny Rails?
Posted by Jason_McHann on July 26, 2011 at 6:34 pmPersonally, I use picatinny rails on all my Tikkas for the versatility.
What do you guys use?

so far I have only used the supplied tikka rings or millets (which I hate now) what rail are you using? the only 2 I know of if the EGW and the one made by NEAR which I think is an awesome design as he has a recoil lug that fit in the hole on the top of the action. just like the Sako TRG's

I use the EGW 20moa rails and love them. Very flexible for mounting options and durable in the field.
George at EGW just released an HD rail for the Tikka T3 that he is sending me to torture and review this weekend. I'll post my results.
We'll be selling the EGW rails for the T3, 595, and 695 actions in the Tikka Store shortly.

I have TPS mounts on my Remington 700 338LM and they are very high quality. Most of my Tikkas have DNZ's only cause TPS dont make a tikka mount yet.. :p

I would NEVER put a picatinny rail on a gun that already have a perfect rail.
Sandvich solution without any reason in my opinion.
The integrated rail on the T3 was one of the big reasons for me to get a T3.As far as I know there is at least the following options for direct mounting.
1. Tikka Ring mount
2. Tikka optilock
3. Warne
4. Apel
5. Spuhr
6. I have surely missed a bunch.I think the Ring mount from Tikka is a pretty nice mount for a light hunting rifle, same with the Warne.
Perfekt, less parts, less screws, less “fuckuppossibilitys”For someone that needs the tilt, there is the optilocks that are very easy to adjust to any tilt you like, by simply makeing the front ring lower.
For tactial options and serious heavy duty, there is my solution.
TRG mount clamped directly to the action.
6-24×72 in direct mount.
SB 4-16 in direct mount.Håkan

Always use rails on my rifles as I don't only have T3's and want to be able to swop my scopes
between rifles depending on the seasons.
On my T3 I use a stainless Roedale rail which I bedded.

GuestAugust 16, 2011 at 6:56 amSo far I use EGWs. I am looking for a rail to fit a T3 which is greater than 20 moa as I am building a long range outfit to shoot 1200 meters and beyond. 20 moa wont get me the elevation I need, but I'd settle for 30 moa. Does anyone know of a rail that will screw straight on to a T3?

I make 34mm mounts that is 13mil/44,4 moa.
And 30 and mm mounts that is 7mils/24 moa for direct mounting to the tikka without picatinny.Håkan

How wide are the individual rings on your mounting system? The reason I ask is at the moment I have Burris Extreme 30mm rings using 1″ reducers. If my reducers would fit the width of your rings that may be an option for me. I'm still waiting on a EGW HD base but even after it comes I could possibly sell it and the Burris rings and pick up one of your fine mounts! Between the price that I could get out of my current set up and the cost of a bubble level setup the cost difference wouldn't be too much of a stretch.

The individual rings are only for picatinny and not for the Tikka rail.
but they work of course fine if you put a picatinny there. The rings are 32mm/1,25″mm long.
I would however have choosed a direct mount instead.
Sturdyer, better, less screws, bigger vial…….In the Remington world people pay loads of extra money to get a Surgeon with integrated rail, in the Tikka world you are all competing in the picatinny race and seems to belive that the one who have the coolest picatinnyrail wins…..

Thanks for getting back with me on the requested info. Do all the Tikka mounts you offer come with the integrated bubble level like the one pictured? I don't think I would ever need the higher cant but the 7 MOA version would work out nicely!

Yes, its actually our TRG mounts, that also works or T3.
Only negative side is that the ejectionport have to be lowered by 1/10″ as it wrongly placed.
All our mounts comes with integrated level, the mounts have a 7mm level, and the rings a 5mm level. Please give me your email and I email over catalogs and manuals so you can read and judge yourself.
