Best Hogdon powders I've used for cold weather sensitivity while hunting is H4831sc & Varget…I use H4831sc exclusively in my 6.5 Creedmoor + 143gr Eldx, and in my 300wsm + 200gr Eldx for all hunting loads now. I use Varget for 223, 308, and even 30-06 reloading believe it or not…doesn't have the greatest velocity in 30-06 with a 178gr Eldx but dam consistent!!!
I just harvested 3 deer here in Ontario Canada last week with my 6.5…all neck shots under 250yrds, zero meat damage.
Leaving next week for a 1 week trip to our Saskatchewan family farm to hopefully get a bruiser of a deer.
Some huge 8 and 10's on camera…might use the 300wsm there just for more knock down power because the deer there are much larger and the shots are usually alot longer. Will post some pics of both hunts when I'm back.
