Cool, I don’t usually have any use for high

I had a Nightforce Bencrest Comp 12-42×56 mounted on my tikka ….. that scope needed the high mounts.

Thank you both.  I did run a box of 50 Hornady Steel Match through her, but I find it hard to believe that hurt the chamber.  I always kept it clean, swabbing when I made ammo brand changes, and always after I shot for the day.  Oh well, crap happens, guess I will really never know what exactly happened or why.

I have a new T3x Varmint .223 (not stainless) with 165 rounds through it, not even a scratch on the shroud.  I don't have a remedy, but obviously there is a tolerance issue somewhere.  I am sure Tikka would be glad to check this out for you, and if it is a warranty issue, they will stand behind it.

One other factory load you should try is the Lapua 69 gr. Scenar  It’s on sale now at bullets.com until they sell out.  It’s really good ammo for 1in 8 twist barrels!

I feel the 6.5 cm is a low recoiling caliber, so the main reason to add a recoil pad is to adjust the length of pull of the stock.
Boyd’s gun stocks has a video on YouTube on how to measure length of pull.

I added two butt pad spacers as well, for length of pull increase.  I'm 6'5″ with long arms.

I bought mine from Midway USA, Limbsaver Model #10011, Midway #960397.  This is prefitted for a T3X as well as other Tikka and Sako models.

A free floating barrel needs to be … Well – free floating as Doggie pointed out. Why people debate over this subject beats me. You won´t get the best accuracy out of a Tikka otherwise. Period!

After much more reading online, they were the right screws. 6-48. I was just afraid to jam them in. But they went in very easy once they got started. Can't wait to take it to the range next week….

Other recommendations have been to simply buy a new Metal magazine from Tikka Performance above.  They are supposed to be much better than the plastic mags from Tikka.
