Maybe someone could reply with their findings.  If it's anything like my .223 CTR, magazine length (even with AI mags) is the limiting factor.

Some rifles just don't like certain ammo either.  Barrel twist plays a big factor.  Poor mounting of optics, bad optics, bad rings, poor trigger control/follow-through, marred crown, stock rubbing, and many more possible things.  I'd check all and try different ammo before sending back.  I had a buddy chasing zero for a week b/c of a bad opt… Read more

For hunting I think they are both fine rifles.  The Winy is a classic and proven.  The Tikka is the best value out there right now.  I don't think you can go wrong with either.  It comes down to if you want a more traditional looking vs. a more modern looking rifle.
