I have gotten the Vortex Viper HS 4-16 X 44 with 30mm tube and would like to know before putting out money for the scope mount what would some of you recommend on my rifle which is a 7mm mag super lite T3x. I'm thinking the warne medium rings. I'm wanting to keep the scope as low as possible but have hear that I need to mount the scope on a rail but never putting a scope on a Tikka before was wondering if it is nessary to use a rail to mount the warne rings on the Tikka. as usual all opinions and help appreciated. I would like to wish all of you a Very Merry Christmas.

Want to thank everyone for the help and opinion on a scope. Here is what I have been considering, I'm going to go with either the Viper HS 4-16 X 44 with 30mm tube or the Diamond Back HP 4-16 X 42 with 1″ tube. I'm going to use the Warne rings. Will more than likely be the Viper HS. I really like the light gathering of it even though I've not had a Diamond Back to compare with the Viper. One of the guys I know let me look through his Viper HS the other morning just before day light and it is nice, so think it will do me a good job hunting on the Oregon coast in the early morning as they always seem to have a low cloud or heavy mist during that time of morning and Elk season.
Thanks again for the opinion and help Hope you all have a Merry Christmas and a Safe Happy New Year.
