I have removed several, and every one has been dang hard coming off. They are on very tight and also have a thread locker on them. I first heat the barrel directly in front of the action loosen the lock Tite. I then set it up in the lathe and do a relief cut in front of the action. Then put it in a barrel vice to screw it off. Chronoed our first loads with Ramshot Hunter. 70 gr TSX at 3505fps and 3400fps for the 80 gr Bergers

Half inch or better with the Bergers and 5/8 -7/8 with the 70 gr TSX

Well we found some screws and got the barrel off! Set the new rifle up in the lathe and made a relief cut right in front of the action, heated up the barrel and burned out the lock Tite, screwed right out! Would have liked to save the new barrel, but had to move on.

Chambered up a new Bartlien  8 twist to 22-243AI. Will Cerakote it tomorrow.… Read more
