I can sympathize with your loss as my buddy Earl (Yellow Lab) passed away in March.
I have hunted many times with my friend's drahthaar and it is a smart and competent hunter and a great pet. The trials these dogs have to perform to be allowed to breed are astonishing. If you get a registered drahthaar you can rest assured that it will perform well!
